United Way of Galveston’s 102nd Annual Campaign Kickoff Luncheon: Celebrating Connection, Amplifying Impact
On August 28, more than 200 community leaders, corporate partners, Partner Agencies, and nonprofit organizations came together at Moody Gardens Hotel for United Way of Galveston’s 102nd Annual Workplace Giving Campaign Kickoff Luncheon. It was an afternoon filled with energy, connection, and momentum for the year ahead.
Our Partner Agencies set the tone by welcoming guests with vibrant information tables, showing firsthand how workplace giving dollars make a difference in Galveston. Their presence reminded everyone that United Way connects those who need help to those who can help.
We are proud to recognize our Platinum Corporate Sponsor Comcast Xfinity for helping bridge the digital divide and expanding opportunity in Galveston. We also extend our immense gratitude to our Headlining Sponsors HomeTown Bank, Frost Bank, Moody Bank, and the Cynthia & George Mitchell Foundation for fueling the work that creates lasting change across our island.
Our speakers inspired and energized the room. Cade Harrington, Campaign Cabinet Chair, shared how workplace giving powers everything United Way makes possible. Steven Peña, small business liaison, encouraged local businesses to step into this movement. April Ciccarello highlighted the impact of the State Employee Charitable Campaign. Tamara Skillern spoke about her personal passion for United Way. Dr. Matthew Neighbors, GISD Superintendent, explained how UWG and GISD work side by side to support students and families. Brian Ray of Comcast connected his company’s values with United Way’s mission. Kelly Cruz, Executive Director of Galveston Island Meals on Wheels, showed how workplace giving donations directly support meals and care for seniors across our community.
Special thanks go to those who shared their voices in our campaign video: Jennifer Lamm, Kevin Dillow, Cade Harrington, and Steven Peña. Your stories, along with the messages delivered on stage, helped bring the mission of United Way to life.
We are also grateful to Zahrah Ektefaei, UWG Board Secretary, for her many contributions, including seeding the idea for the Word of the Day game.
We also thank Taylor Greenwalt, Greenwalt Productions, for capturing the event in photos and for producing both videos. Appreciation to Taylor Lauren for her incredible vocals and music, to Moody Gardens for outstanding hospitality and service, and to Encore for running the slides seamlessly.
A big shoutout to all of our Table Sponsors whose investment filled the ballroom with energy and support. Your presence proves that when Galveston comes together, we amplify impact.
United Way of Galveston connects those who need help to those who can help. With the strength of our Partner Agencies, the dedication of our sponsors and Corporate Partners, the passion of our speakers, and the generosity of our community, we are ready to make this campaign year unforgettable.
