Coffee & Quality Galveston Launch Brings Nonprofit Leaders Together

On April 9, United Way of Galveston hosted the Coffee & Quality Galveston Meet & Greet, welcoming nonprofit leaders, partners, and community stakeholders for an afternoon of connection, conversation, and shared learning.
More than 70 individuals representing 50 organizations joined throughout the afternoon, reflecting broad engagement across Galveston’s nonprofit community. Leaders, program staff, and partners came together to explore how Coffee & Quality can strengthen organizations and better serve our community.
A Strong Start for Coffee & Quality in Galveston

This gathering was designed as an introduction. Its purpose was to bring people together, share the direction of Coffee & Quality, and begin the conversation about what Coffee & Quality can look like in Galveston.
The level of engagement in the room made clear that organizations are ready to strengthen how they use data to inform their work and improve outcomes for the people they serve.

What is Coffee & Quality?

“I’m looking forward to Coffee & Quality helping us serve our community with more cohesion and clarity.”
Galveston nonprofit leader
Coffee & Quality is a structured effort, originally developed by United Way of Greater Houston, to help nonprofits strengthen how they use data, improve programs, and make more informed decisions.
In Galveston, Coffee & Quality is being implemented by United Way of Galveston and intentionally adapted to reflect local context and needs.
There are multiple ways to engage, depending on your organization’s needs and readiness:
- Fellows Program – a cohort-based experience for organizations ready to invest in strengthening internal practices beginning June 1, 2026
- Learning Cohort – a focused opportunity for individuals to build skills in areas like data storytelling and visualization
- Online sessions – accessible learning opportunities on specific topics
- Content library – practical tools and resources that organizations can use on their own time
You do not need to do everything. You can start where you are.
Why Coffee & Quality Matters

Across Galveston, nonprofit organizations are doing important work and collecting meaningful data. The challenge is not whether data exists, but how to use it in a way that informs decisions, strengthens programs, and clearly communicates impact.
Coffee & Quality is designed to help organizations:
- Use data to guide decisions, not just reporting
- Clearly communicate impact to funders and boards
- Strengthen alignment between programs and outcomes
- Build internal practices that support continuous improvement
Start Where You Are

Some organizations are ready for a cohort experience. Others may want to begin with a single session or explore tools at their own pace.
You can engage at the level that makes sense for your organization right now.
To help organizations get a clearer sense of how Coffee & Quality applies to their day-to-day work, United Way of Galveston will be sharing content from the Coffee & Quality library, along with upcoming opportunities to learn and engage.
