Disaster coordination depends on relationships, current information, and clear communication before a crisis begins. By bringing partners together before hurricane season progresses, United Way of Galveston aims to help strengthen the nonprofit coordination foundation across the island.

We are co-hosting the Galveston Nonprofit Preparedness Roundtable on Thursday, June 18, 2026, from 10:00–11:30 a.m.

This practical pre-season roundtable is designed for Galveston nonprofit, faith-based, and community-serving partners whose organizations may play a role before, during, or after a disaster affecting Galveston.

The goal is simple: Contact list. Capacity scan. Communication plan. Next steps.

Participants will discuss:

• Who needs to be in the nonprofit disaster coordination loop
• What organizations may be able to provide before, during, or after a disaster
• How partners should communicate during response and recovery
• What next steps should be taken to improve readiness across Galveston.

This is a practical roundtable, not a formal conference. The conversation will focus on useful information, shared coordination needs, and next steps that can help nonprofit partners stay better connected during preparedness, response, and recovery.

Your organization is not required to provide disaster-related services in order to attend. This event is meant to connect Galveston-serving:

• Nonprofit organizations
• Faith-based organizations (places of worship)
• Community-based organizations (Kiwanis, Rotary, Noon Optimists & more)

Together, we can strengthen the our island’s safety net so that everyone in Galveston knows who to turn to for help when any one of our shared constituents inevitably asks you for help.
